Brown Chickpea Hummus

Updated: Mar 16, 2020

Ingredients:
1/4 cup of uncooked chickpeas or 3 cups of cooked chickpeas.
3 tbsp of tahini paste
1 lemon, juice
1 tsp of cumin
3 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 tsp of salt, or as needed
Extra virgin olive oil
Hot water, only if needed
Directions:
To a food processor (or high speed blender), add chickpeas and garlic. Blitz until a puree has been formed.
Next add lemon, tahini, salt, cumin and a splash of hot water. Blitz until everything is combined well and forms a good consistency.
The next step is all about taste testing. I always suggest tasting your hummus and adding a few extras if you desire. E.g more salt, lemon, tahini?
Once desired hummus taste has been made, pour mixture into a bowl and serve with pita bread, carrots, cucumber or any other vegetable. Drizzle olive oil on top for garnish.
